Fair warning, this review will contain spoilers here and there. So if you haven't seen 'Die Hard' yet... GO! GO NOW, FOR THE GOOD OF MANKIND! Watch what is considered one the the greatest action movies of all time!... Although, that may sound pretty hypocritical from someone who has a page on his site called "Catching Up"... Still though, you should watch this 'cause it's kinda freaking awesome.

As the now famous meme says, "there are two types of people in this world. Those who think 'Die Hard' is a Christmas movie, and those who are wrong." One may argue that this is just an action movie with Christmas surrounding it. To those, I quote another famous meme, "It's not Christmas for me until I see Hans Gruber fall from Nakatomi Tower". Let's face it, this now has a huge following as something incredibly fun to watch over the holidays that isn't quite as gushy as most Christmas movies. One might refer to it as the ultimate "Christmas Movie for Dudes". I'm no exception. This is an annual do for me. I even got to see it on the big screen a couple of years ago, and it still holds up incredibly well.

For those who have read this far who haven't seen it (again, go!) our story involves detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) who has just landed in Los Angeles to attend a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza. There, he intends to reconcile with his estranged wife, Holly (Bonnie Bedelia). However, as John takes time to unwind in his hotel room, the party is overtaken by a group of terrorists, lead by ultimate Christmas villain, Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) in a plot to steal $640 million in bearer bonds, and teach the corporation a lesson for it's greed. Meanwhile, John takes up arms in an action-packed effort to defeat the terrorists and protect the innocent victims being held captive.

This is one of those legendary action movies that's in the same realm as something like 'Terminator 2' or 'Aliens' except not directed by James Cameron. It's something that you could still watch today and get just as much action-loaded balls-to-the-wall fun as you did when you first saw it. This does however come from John McTiernan, the same guy who directed 'Predator' (actually that's another movie that fits that category. I sense a new Top 10 list coming in the near future).

What more can be said. It's 'Die Hard', it's name alone is synonymous with the action movie genre. It comes as a high recommendation from yours truly as something very different to watch during your Christmas movie binge. Because we all need to take a break from the simple and toned-down family features once in a while.
